Lonesome Highway Album Review
Nice review of A Good American Life on Lonesome Highway.
A GOOD AMERICAN LIFE ON TANGENTIALLY SPEAKING (AGAIN)
Dr. Chris Ryan featured another song from A Good American Life on his Tangentially Speaking (#133). It was fun to hear him opine on the songs meaning, I'd say he "knocked it out of the park!"

For the Country Record Reviews A Good American Life
I found this review to be insightful. I felt like the reviewer really dug into the album...I like that.
A Good American Life on Tangentially Speaking
One of my songs, A Good American Life, was played on the latest episode of Tangentially Speaking (#132). It's a huge thrill as I've been a long time listener. I highly recommend the podcast, but make sure and leave your preconceived notions at the door...higher primates only!

National Country Review on A Good American Life
Here's a recent review of A Good American Life done by National Country Review.
Time to Release this Thing
It’s been quite the process, and there’s a ton more to be done promoting this record …but I’d be lying if I didn’t say this is a huge (if not blatantly obvious) milestone. I decided not to stress over this undertaking when I started…to try and concentrate on the step in front me instead of attempting to fathom all the stairs ascending into the distance. I think it worked. So many talented people gave their best efforts to get this album done and get it done up to professional standards. Gratitude. I’m looking forward to going out and playing some of this music!
This Album is Done, Let's Press Some CDs
Just Got the Masters
Headed to Mastering
I spent the last weekend in Grand Rapids, MI, with Colonel Crittenden. We put the finishing touches on this record and it's now on its way to get mastered in Athens, GA. Throughout the weekend I also visited old friends, played a few songs at One Trick Pony, and had an unofficial listening party for the upcoming album at Mackinaw Harvest Studios. Very good times. Now I need to catch up on sleep...daylight savings is not helping any.
Initial Tracking Completed!
I completed tracking all the songs for this upcoming album last week in 4 days at Mackinaw Harvest Studios. I was joined by Rob Avsharian on drums, John Connors on bass and Drew Howard on pedal steel. We tracked 8 songs, all live. In addition I tracked another 5 songs with just my Gibson J-45 for company.
At this point Michael Crittenden (my talented producer) is laying some extra things onto the existing tracks, such as electric guitar, piano, Hammond B3, etc.
I'll be heading back over to Grand Rapids March 5-6 to work with some background vocalists and record an electric guitar solo or two myself, just for old times sake. When that visit is done mixing will be finalized and mastering will begin soon after. I hope to have the master in my hands by the end of March.
Onward!
First Album Underway!
Michael Crittenden and I have been do light pre-production of 14 songs in consideration for this album and discussing musicians, etc. Rob Avsharian has agree to play drums on the album which is very exciting. The album is slated to feature 10 tracks so some choices will need to be made song-wise. I'll be heading west to Grand Rapids next week for a couple days of more intensive pre-production/demo recording. The as-yet-untitled album will be fully tracked later this month at Mackinaw Harvest...can't wait!
Michael Crittenden Producing My Album
Looks like I'll be working with Michael Crittenden on my upcoming (and very first) album. Michael has produced for many artists, including notable mid-western artists Drew Nelson and Josh Rose. I'm excited that he's taken on the challenge of producing my first effort. We've already begun pre-production and all signs point to an interesting and fun couple months to start out 2015!
Opening for Chris Knight
I'll be opening for Chris Knight when the JSO brings him in to play at "The Wax" on 12/12/2014. Looking forward to that show...Chris Knight is old school!
